Im staying in the Baldimer/BWI area for a while. I noticed Patapsco State Park is near where I'm staying. Anyone know if the area has good running trails. Where to park, goood routes etc
Thanks

Better clear it with Marlo before you go.
David,
Patapsco's trails are color theme blazed. I was planning on running there sunrise this Saturday & Sunday, 10-15 miles each day. My favorite 10-mile route has 1500 ft of elevation change. How does that sound?
Google Maps "Soapstone Trail & Rolling Rd"
Let me know if you want to meet me there at 7-8am.
The trails are all paved, I believe.
I don't know of any good dirt/cinder trails in the area.
Watch out for Adnan and Jay ...
There's a good 30 miles of trails in Patapsco. Amazing running. Going to be difficult right now with the melting snow and Patapsco is a mess when it rains, but should be great by the late weekend. Great elevation gain in short bursts, no climbs longer than 400m, but great trail running, best in MD.
Hills:
Soapstone Trail up to Rolling Rd 1mi moderate-steep
Vineyard Spring Trail .25mi moderate
Foxhall Rd (Vineyard Springs>Rolling Rd) .85mi moderate rolling
Avalon camping lasso 1.2mi steep .6up .6down
Gun Road .85m steep
Ridge Trail up to Rockburn .25mi steep
Ridge Trail - .25mi undulating
Ilcrest-Hilltop .6mi steep
Buzzards Rock 1mi steep-moderate
When I am home from school these are my sole training grounds. Just last week however they were muddy as hell so prepare for that. If they are too muddy the Grist Mill trail is flat, paved, and fast. If you keep going through Relay or Elkridge you can easily get a nice long run. I recommend parking at the bottom of Ilchester and Bonnie Branch road where they meet by the train bridge and river (read the signs so you don't get ticketed though). Otherwise for trails park in Rockburn Branch Park where they have 10 miles of trails and has trails that lead right into Patapsco.
