When mentally breaking a 1500 meter race into splits, do you think of it as:
300, 400, 400, 400
Or:
400, 400, 400, 300
It's weird for me since I am used to 1600 meters and naturally broke it down into even fourths. I would have split times I would try to hit every lap in order to maximize my optimal pacing plan.
I think I would like to go 400, 400, 400, 300 but what if there is no visible clock at the 1500 meter starting area? Also, it will be weird to have a last "lap" of only 300 meters. Might it subconsciously delay the start of my kick and cost me a few seconds?
I never realized how much simpler things were in HS until today.
