I want to give adidas a try this time around for my new trainers, but I've heard bad things about the newest Ultra Boost pertaining to premature wear and tear around 30-40 miles. How are the Glide 7s? Boost 2s?

I'm partial to the boston boosts and really loathe the boost 2.
but I love the boost 1
Not sure what happened there.
Long thread that is very useful and stilll gets updates:

Crazy about the Ultra Boost, if that's true. That shoe retails for $180, I believe.
I love the Boston Boost - one of my favorite shoes ever. I've also been testing the Takumi Sen Boost, which I think will end up being my 5K racing shoe.
For a trainer, I'd definitely try the Boston Boost.
Our college team is sponsored by adidas, and the new glides are awful! Hardly last an indoor season and once you up your mileage they cause injury.
Absolutely love the Adios Boosts. Since they are a bit boucier than the normal Adios, they're great for training. I'm finding the Boost stuff is not as durable (or stiff) as the normal Adios, but really comfy while it lasts.

This is a beyond-moronic post. "Once you up your mileage they cause injury"????? Are you serious? That is just a stupid comment.
On a more positive note, the Boston Boost is absolutely spectacular. Personally, I love the entire Boost line (adios/boston/glide/energy) and think that adidas really knocked that one out of the park. I don't think I have ever run in more durable shoes. The continental rubber outsole literally doesn't wear down, and the Boost foam feels just as springy at 500 miles as it does on day 1.
Disclosures: No I do not work for adidas. Yes I do work for a running store.
The Boston Boost 5 has been my favorite shoe for a while. It's durable, a perfect combination of an uptempo fit, to enough cushion to last a 20+ mile run, and it is pretty lightweight. I can do trackwork and easy miles and not change shoes....very versatile.
I have the original energy boosts...which have been a nice easy running shoe. The techfit took some getting used to.
Country 2
Adizero Adios Boost 2 if you are somewhat experienced and not just getting into the sport.
Agreed on the Boston Boost. I had a pair of the glide 6's but when it came to replacing them I tried a pair of glide 7's they seemed heavier and not quite right for me so I've transitioned to using the Bostons for just about everything from easy days to speedwork and long runs. Apparently the Boston Boost 6 will be out in a couple of months, I hope they don't change too much as they seem to have it spot on. I race in the Adios Boost (both versions 1 & 2) and I have to say they are my favourite Adidas shoes.
I have a pair of the Ultra Boost and they are a very nice top end product but not the 'greatest running shoe ever'. I can see where some people might find they have wear issues on the outsole. The upper is very comfortable but there is zero support in that shoe. Even a neutral shoe like the Boston gives a little bit of support by the three stripes wrapping around the foot and holding in place but the knitted upper of the Ultra Boost offers nowt.
Oh no! What did they do to the glide 7? Love the 6! I'm afraid to go to the Boston bc it isn't as much shoe and I want a little more for logging the miles :(
Don't panic, the Glide 6 & 7 are very similar, I just found the 7 a bit heavier and I've got into the routine of using my Bostons for all different types of runs. I didn't see the justification in paying out for some Glide 7's when I had the Bostons which are serving me well. If you like the Glide 6's you'll like the 7's.
This, I use Hagios for tempos/races too.
glide 6
adios boost
hagio2 (now called rc)
i rotate this at the moment
curious about the takumi zen 3
I wanted to give them a try, but I can't go back to high-drop shoes.
Do they have a high cushion model with half the conventional drop?
Same problem with many other brands of trainers. It seems HOKA and Altra have the high cushion low drop market cornered, right?

I picked up a pair of the takumi sen 3's last week and absolutely love them. Really similar to the old adizero pro, but with boost in the forefoot, they are literally perfect. Can't wait to get in a race with them. Highly highly recommended. In my mind, they are the definitely of "you get what you pay for".
yeah they look super premium, but i dunno about that price vs how much i like the hagio2/rc, which have me covered for 5k to maybe 10k.
Adios for anything more

The Ultra Boost is an embarrassment for Adidas.
Outsole wear evident after a 5 mile run. Sock liner is cheap. Mushy flat road feel. This may be the worst $180 shoe ever introduced.
2's and Glide are steps in the right direction , Ultra just set them back.
Clearly the focus was on fashion not performance. Save your money.
For those of us who bought the shoe spread the message do not buy the ULTRA BOOST.

You must be joking. I've got 1200 miles on a pair of Adios Boost 2s. I pulled a new pair out of the box for a recent race, and they felt identical to the ones with all the miles on them, other than that the upper was tighter because it hadn't torn in several places yet.
