This year the D3 Outdoor Championship will be hosted by St. Lawrence University. I have been to my fair share of D3 Championship and for the most part they are in relatively small, mid-west college towns. That aren't necessarily the greatest places, but seem to have ample hotels and it's located not to far from a major airport. Though, I have found St. Lawrence to be a very odd selection as a host school. For starters, Canton NY is a very small town that is located about only 20 miles from the Canadian border. The closest major airports are Syracuse ( 2hrs 15mins ) and Albany ( 3hrs 30mins). In regards to hotels, Canton only has two major hotels ( Comfort Suites & Best Western) and those filled up in early February. The other surrounding towns with hotels are between 30-45mins away.
I'm just curious how the NCAA thought this was a good idea from both a logistic standpoint, as well as a fan / growth of sport standpoint.
