Hi runners, I’m a medical student doing some research on compression wear and I need your help!
I love wearing my CW-X during runs and workouts, and recently I read a couple new studies on whether there are actually any scientific benefits. It’s interesting because there are many different claims on what compression actually does, and it’ll be interesting to see how the data lines up with our own experiences.
To do that, please reply to this quick poll on what you believe is true or false about compression wear. Later on, I’ll analyze the data alongside the actual studies to see what the primary misconceptions are, to what extent is placebo involved, as well as any other interesting trends that might help us learn how to use compression more effectively. Of course, I’ll be sharing the poll results and any interesting findings here!
To participate, leave your response in the comment section, which I’ll be monitoring and manually tabulating every hour or so along with the results from a bunch of other sports/fitness boards. If any of the questions don’t apply to you, you can just leave them blank. If there’s anything you think I’ve missed, please let me know as well. Thanks!
**POLL:**
Demographic Info (to help me look for trends and patterns)
* Gender
* Approximately how long have you been using compression wear?
* Where do you wear compression? (E.g. shirts, leggings, socks)
* Which brand(s) do you primarily use?
Beliefs on compression wear: TRUE or FALSE (or N/A)
1. Improves performance (e.g. makes me run faster and/or jump higher)
2. Improves stamina (e.g. reduces fatigue and/or lets me run longer)
3. Provides support/stability and/or prevents injury
4. When worn after workouts, speeds up recovery and/or reduces soreness (Bonus: how long do you keep it on after workouts?)
5. The tightness enhances my awareness and/or control of my movements/technique
