GV distance will be out in force.
Who do you have for the win in the 800m up?

Windle, Barnes, Webster. No surprise.
Next?
Ashland Mid D could be pretty stout this year. Sussman returns for his final season of eligibility. Another new addition will be Jacob Cook who is moving up from the 400m. These two plus Windle and Hall could result in a a decent amount of points between 1500/800. Then you throw in some guys like Potes and Knack and a solid amount of points appear.
That said the depth of GV will not be tested. Should win going away once again.

I think when he said "800m up" he meant 800m, 1500m, 3000m Steeple, 5000m, 10,000m... Not just the 800m... If we get started talking about the 800m it turns into talking about Windle, then someone will ask where Baum is, then that will turn into a 4 page rant about Nick Hall. We don't want this turning into another 'This is ashlands year!' forum. It happens every time, but never holds up in the results.

Subtle dig on Ashland.
I agree with SLR 800 prediction. As does everyone I'm sure.
1500 - Hall, Mach, Perez
3k steeple - Gv, Gv, Gv
5k - Mirth, Bradley, Knack
10k - Rousch, Mirth, Hickman
My picks for the scorers. No particular order.
1500- Hall, Mach, Lane, Perez, Windle, Bradley, Whitaker, Hayes
Steeple- Hickman, Matusiak, Steible... No idea from there.
5k- Bradley, Mirth, Knack, Selner, Potes, Black, Southgate, Another GV
10k- Orndorf, Mirth, May, Rousche, Potes, Cini, Pengelly, Another GV
Ever wonder why no one talks about the field events on here? Or the sprints? Or the hurdles? Track and field is more than just the damn distance races.

We only talk about what matters and what is fun to watch.
Everyone should remember than Jani Lane has the fastest 1500 PR aside from Windle and is the only returning All American in the 1500 in the GLIAC. Personally knowing Tom Scott, I'd expect Jani to be the guy to beat this year if he's in shape/healthy
Is anyone predicting for Barnes to potentially move up to the 1500 this year?
Why in the world would Barnes do that?
I don't see it happening. They've got two guys that can get it done if they're on at the time and Barnes seems to be just getting back to form again in the 800, and I'd say he's on his way to a PR season in that event...safer not to try and gamble on a new event with such a quick turn around for outdoors (limited time to truly make a run at it and get comfortable with it). I think he could make a great 1500 guy , but they need him in the 800 more than they need him in the 1500.
Other news: talks of Malone going d3 are confirmed as more than pure speculation ...obviously no decisions have been made and likely will not be for some time, but its being considered.
There's a big announcement on the horizon for one of the more successful GLIAC schools, probably won't get mentioned until late outdoor season but once it gets out it'll really shake things up
YOU CAN"T DO THAT! What is it!
Impressive runs for Chris May, Nate Orndoff, Drew Windle, Jake Sussman, and Josh Davis at Raleigh Relays.
I'm most impressed with Chris May's performance, an 11 sec pb for a 14:22. I think Mach and Whitaker for Malone also turned in decent performances. Perez ran a similar caliber time to how he performed in Indoor Gliacs. I think the guys mentioned ran well for their season opener, though Orndorf maybe a little off. The biggest surprise for me was Jani Lane running 4:06. He has over a month before conferences though and an additional week after that to hit a provisional time. Most of the GLIAC sprinters seemed a little off, probably just shaking off the rust. I understand the GVSU-SVSU dual meet has been moved indoors.
What is impressive about 3:58 and 1:59?

Maybe we should title this thread GLIAC Distance Races only. All you skinny kids seem to care about anyway.
