It's like they go off a cliff after December.
It's like they go off a cliff after December.
Let's face it. They are not a great program on the whole, with gaping holes. No sprints, mid distance, or distance that can win titles indoors or out. And they have no women's team apparently? A great program relies on many great coaches and specialists. and Women.
Last year, Ben finished 3rd in the 3k indoors as a true freshman & 3rd in the pac 12 1500. Emma won the indoor mile the year before that (2013) and the ncaa steeple title outdoors. Shalaya won the steeple the year before that (2012) and made the olympic team, along with Emma. Emma won the steeple the year before that (2011). Jenny did pretty well on the track in college too.
CU also had more olympians (students/alum) in distance events between both men & women in 2012 (5) than Oregon did (3).
Indoors is not something Mark cares about that much either. It is hard to train for indoors in Boulder during the winter when your indoor track is a 70+ year old 160 yard flat track. They are getting a new 300m indoor track for next year however, so they might start focusing more on indoors than in previous years.
So if Ben was so good as a freshman, what happened to him this year?

Except for the ncaa indoor mile title Emma won in 2013. Or the ncaa steeple title she won in 2013. Or the ncaa steeple title Shalaya won in 2012. Or the ncaa steeple title Emma won in 2011. Or the USATF steeple title Emma won in 2011. Or the olympic trials title Emma won in 2012, along with Shalaya making the team. Or Jenny's many championship successes and records. Or the pac 12 XC title the women's team won 2011.
Oregon gets titles. Colorado doesn't. Anything else?
Fact checked

He finished 7th in the NCAA XC championships on 4 hours of sleep per night whilst maintaining a 4.0 GPA in an engineering program.

Both get titles.
Individual and team titles.
Oregon had more Olympians than CU. 100% more in 2012.
Galen Rupp, Andrew Wheating, Keshia Baker, Zoe Buckman, Matthew Centrowitz, Ashton Eaton, Becky Holliday, Cyrus Hostetler, Brianne Theisen and Rachel Yurkovich
Whetmore is in Eugene now recruiting..... looking for a gender called women. He is in the Bowerman counting all the titles with his mouth agape..
"Both get titles. Individual and team titles."
You concede with this bit. Trying to avoid the next logical question: Who has more? Don't run away now.... coz you just lost.

One would expect that given that Oregon spends more money on sprints, jumps, throws, and multi event athletes.
CU had more Olympians in distance events (5) than Oregon (4). Among US athletes the difference is 5 to 3.

Shalaya won the NCAA steeple title in 2012. She also made the olympic team in 2012.
Jenny won many titles and set many records. Look them up yourself if you're curious.
The women's XC team won the first pac 12 championships in 2011.
CU also had multiple athletes qualify for the world xc championships this year. Two CU athletes went 1-2 in the women's junior race.

No.
I didn't concede anything, and I didn't try to avoid any question.
I merely pointed out the factual error the person I replied to (probably you, along with the rest of the posts in this thread) asserted.
2012 is 3 years ago. 2015 Oregon has so far, what like 5 distance running titles? CU has nada now.. sorry dood. Outdoors will just keep adding... How we do.
Oregon has the best running program in the nation. Also the best TF program. Not negotiable no matter what esoteric metric spin you try to use from your old glory days...
Here's some water for that crow you are trying to gnarl down. the legs must be a crunchy mess.. yikes
I would put Florida and Arkansas above Colorado. SEC will be stompin this Spring. Stanford has better distance than Colorado as well, men and women.
No one addressed my question: does MW ewven show up to workouts after December? With one of his best ever teams in the fall, he should have three guys in the 3k/5K, and comparable outdoors if he even just rides the base they had for cross. I don't get how they could be this weak on the track.
Maybe he is too busy with his ladies (Jenny, Emma)
You can't simply change the goal posts when someone addresses an argument you previously made.
If you don't want to address 2012, then don't bring it up. I was merely responding to a post someone made.
I'm not putting "esoteric metric spin" on anything.
Everything I've said is factual. I haven't claimed CU is "better" than anyone else. I've merely addressed incorrect assertions others have made.
If I said something mistaken, you need only give evidence that it is mistaken. If you do, I'd own up to it. So far, you haven't done that. You've just made ridiculous posts like this.
Who is wetmore?

I did in my first post in this thread.

That wasn't your question.
But the answer is obviously yes.

Again, see my first post in this thread. They don't focus on indoors. This might change in upcoming years because of the new indoor facility they're getting. This could also help bring in athletes in other disciplines.
He talks about it here:
http://www.ustfccca.org/2015/01/featured/qa%E2%82%82-max-podcast-mark-wetmore-of-colorado-2015-indoor-tf-mens-distance-previewHahahahah, what a pathetic display the last few days by Oregon "fans". So distraught over Wetmore rightfully getting praise in November that they need to blast their insecure, immature hatred 4 months later.
Wetmore clearly doesn't put much stock into indoor nationals. Powell clearly doesn't put much stock into cross country. Oregon fans clearly don't put much stock into intelligence or decorum.
and clearly not much stock in winning titles, women, a program, other coaches, making olympians, legacy.
bitter CU fans. no excuses, just results. you are having nervous break downs here. just sayin
