Alan Abrahamson wrote an article about how Luciano Barra, the eminent track guy and Olympic honcho, wrote an email asking for Bob Hersh to step down because he is so old.
Guess what Luciano Barra also is known for? The 1987 Worlds Long Jump where Italian officials fixed the results so that their guy would get the bronze. You youngsters probably can't understand such brazen cheating but it happened:

Sports Illustrated
, "Three FIDAL officials who worked the long jump werebanned from the sport, and Luciano Barra, Nebiolo's assistant
and secretary general of FIDAL, resigned from that organization
for having conducted a shoddy initial investigation."
Somehow Luciano left the part out of his resume of resigning from Italian track for enabling corruption.

Alan and the Board still miss the key point. The USATF delegates still want Bob to be their representative to the IAAF. They still see him as more than capable.
