I'm writing an article on the effects of caffeine and running. I don't drink coffee before my morning runs, take gels with caffeine in them, don't drink soda, etc.
I'm sure I'm wrong — and this is what I'm tackling — but I don't see what the big deal is with coffee and caffeine and running.
Am I missing out big time?
Can you help by sharing some personal information/experiences on this with me?

There is no "right or wrong on this". But with all due respect, personal anecdotes are not worth that much. Just do a pubmed search on caffeine and exercise/running, and you will find quite a bit. Also, do a nytimes article search, there was one few years ago on this and even quoted the legendary Weldon Johnson.
(ps the "big deal" is that overall the research shows that it can help with performance. But everyone is different , and if made your stomach queasy, or made you anxious, it could backfire. You need to experiment. Generally, it should help a little, but like with most things, it ain't gonna take you from also ran to top dog. It might be a very minor help in the big scheme. )
