I've been injured off an on for the few years, and my training consistency has gone down the drain. But now after the first few weeks of my latest resurgence I've started feeling like crap. All my energy is gone. I start out each run out of breath and hungry, and I have to push myself just to make it through easy runs. I feel out of breath and my legs burn when climbing stairs. And my motivation to get up and do stuff has gone out the window.
I've had bouts of no energy on runs in the past two years, and took liquid iron, which I think actually made me feel a lot better; but I never had any blood tests to justify taking iron. Now that I've finally gotten my first blood test, I am perplexed, because most of the numbers look normal.
The first time I experienced this significantly, I was eating almost entirely fruit. The second time I was eating a pretty diverse diet including animal foods (eggs, meat) except milk. And now, I eat meat infrequently (1-2x/week), but I emphasize leafy greens (cooked kale, collards, spinach), and I regularly eat lentils. I usually drink 20-32 oz of coffee every morning, and I regularly enjoy tea in the evening. I've been drinking a lot of tea for most of my life, as well as coffee. I've been taking a multivitamin (

). I believed I was iron deficient in the past. And a blood test from a couple years ago indicated that I might be very slightly hypothyroidic. My diet must be good for the most part since I rarely ever get sick, though that has been true most of my life.
