From the state that brought you Morgan Pearson, Edward Cheserek, Joe and Jim Rosa, Jeremy Elkaim, Patrick Rono, Travis Mahoney... should we keep going?
2 points is a disgrace. On the women's side they were second to last with 24 points. By comparison it almost looks respectable, but all of the points came from the same girl! They were one illness/injury away from ZERO.
Time to clean house on the Banks.
Maryland no indoor team?
will this thread get deleted like the last one?
Rutgers track is a joke. bad coaching, no recruiting. how many state champs don't even get a letter or call from mulqueen? its a shame, they use to have good distance runners in the 70s/early 80s
Nobody cares because the football team did well. As I said before this is the worst showing ever for a Rutgers athletic team. The big ten is a big fiasco for Rutgers
However, this does not reflect on New Jersey athletics, since our best athletes don.t go to Rutgers. Do you think a jersey kid who runs around 4:10 to 4:15 for the mile is going to Rutgers. He would already be the fastest on the RU team.
I coached in nj at a school that was pretty successful and has placed many track/xc athletes on division 1 teams and not 1 of those kids ever got a letter or call from Rutgers.
The program is a total joke. The coaching staff is pretty much stealing money.
They had the ad fooled. Rutgers would win the met track champs and make it seem as if it was something major.
Just as bad is Manhattan college
How can 2 schools in one of the nation's hotbed areas of track and field be so poor
as an illini fan, I only wish Rutgers good luck for the rest of the year and next! To many haters. For the athletes, keep fighting, clawing and competing! Don't blame the coaches administrators (or the posters here) you have it better than most, so don't use it as an excuse! Welcome to the big ten, make the most of it and hold your heads up. There is mrs people wishing you well than just the people with "R's" on there shirts!
They should just get a new head coach, in highschool I was recruited by Mulqueen. I have never seen such a sad program. No organization of practice, the XC guys told me they just stopped listening to him and try to formulate their own running, he is later than they are to practice time. He is obviously just collecting the paycheck. So happy high school me chose not to go there.
program is nowhere close to fully funded. Hard to compete in the big 10 with less resources. Rutgers women have it all so they are terrible, no argument.
Men are at a severe disadvantage with scholarships, squad size limits, etc.
Rutgers is currently good at three big ten sports, and they are women's soccer and basketball, and football. The verdict is still out for the baseball team. Rutgers does not get a lot of return for their investment in sports.
Watching and listening to the men's basketball team is a weekly horror. I think NJIT could easily beat them.
Add greats like Carl Lewis, mary decker stanley, and Marty liquori to the nj list.

Does that mean that recruiting or walking on / joining, generally, the Rutgers track and xc distance squad, is not that tall of an order>?
TALK ABOUT HIDING THE TRUTH....
In today's courier news there was an article on the one girl that gave the Rutgers’s women their points. The article mentioned nothing on the poor showing of the women's team overall. Worse, nothing was even mentioned on the men's team posting a big ten indoor record low score of 2!
The article gave the impression that this one women was responsible for a good showing for Rutgers at the big ten indoor meet! It is this kind of obfuscation of the facts that has led to the Rutgers athletic board to ask for more money without any hint of protest.
When Rutgers announced its entrance into the big ten we were told that the university would be competitive. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. The football and a few women's programs have done well, but the men basketball team has not won in fifty days, and the track team is coming off probably the worst showing ever at a big ten indoor meet.
It is hard to find a university that spends so much on sports for so little return.
It seems the football team is hogging resources that could help benefit other university teams.
Rutgers can't get out of its own way. From Kevin Bannon's naked free throws, Bob Mulcahy's sketchy funding of the expansion of Rutgers Stadium, Mike Rice and the subsequent throwing of Tim Pernetti under the bus, the ugly hiring of Juli Hermann, and the PR landline of calling Eddie Jordan a Rutgers graduate, its just one shake-your-head moment after another. If Rutgers athletics wants to be respected, it has to act in a way that earns it from the people of NJ.
The track/XC situation is just one of administrative indifference. They're so focused on football that everything else has been neglected.
Is this for big ten men or women

Well, since the freakin' THREAD TITLE says "Rutgers Men" I'm thinking it's probably the men's scores.
JEEZIS--reading comprehension much?
Recently the only legit Big Ten type talent (read: top 3 at conference type) that Rutgers has had was Crawford. Is he hurt again?
Their best throws guy transferred mid-year to go down south.
I think that they must have redshirted a bunch of guys.
They picked up a couple of solid guys for next year.
Whatever. RU is RU.
