I'm signed up to run the NYC half in a couple weeks. This will be my first year running this race though I am very familiar with Central Park.
Does anyone have experience running the race / any tips or thoughts on the optimal race strategy? The first 6 miles are a loop around the park, the next two are south and west to the west side highway, and the last 5 are a flat and slightly downhill on the west side highway to the freedom tower.
I'm concerned I'll push to hard on the hills early in the race and not have enough left to finish fast -- but the 2 downhill middle miles could give some recovery.
Note -- I'm shooting for about 7 mins / mile pace
