What do you guys think about having a robot as a rabbit for world record attempts?
I've thought about some pros and cons but would like to hear what you guys have thought about that didn't come to mind for me.
Pros:
The pace would be exactly even thus if the runner followed he/she could run at the optimal economy
The runner wouldn't have to worry or think about the pace and could just follow since the robot would run at exactly the attempted pace of the world record
It would be interesting to watch as a spectator
Cons:
It takes away from the "humanness" of the sport
It takes away from racing in the sport vs. record chasing
Another question is if the robots would actually work. When humans chase human rabbits they know someone else can run at that pace, which is probably motivating, but if a machine was ahead of you would you still chase it as it were a human?
Also if world records were broken because of the robots it would show that humans are capable of running such times which would make the sport interesting..
Thoughts?
