Very much so.
All through high school & even post-college, my quickness & explosiveness was my strength. I thrived on stuff like suicides.
Now, after neglecting that kind of stuff for 6 years, and focusing mostly on distance running and improving my race times, I cringe at the thought of even attempting to run a suicide, or do something with a bunch of quick, lateral movement like play soccer. My gut tells me I would be at huge risk of injury even attempting it.
The neuromuscular part, and explosiveness, is now truly one of my weakest links and currently a liability.
Lesson for me is, use it or lose it. It's my own fault for neglecting such things. Wasn't intentional, just that my hobbies changed, and I've noticed the results of those changes with time.
