I am currently a senior in high school who is coming towards the end of my indoor season without running a PR in the 1000, 600, or 1600 my 3 main events. As a sophomore (my first full track season) I ran a 1:57 800m and ran a 4:32 1600m in the outdoor season and improved consistently to get those times. As a junior in the indoor season (my first varsity indoor season) I ran a 2:31 1000m a 4:27 1600m a 9:57 and a 1:24 600m. However, in the outdoor season the fastest I was able to run in the 800m was the same 1:57 that I achieved as a sophomore with considerably a lot less training and experience. Although, I was able to improve my 1600m to 4:19 I am confused to why my 800m did not improve with it. This current indoor season I again have only managed to equal what I preformed in my previous season managing to run a 2:31 1000m a 4:29 1600m a 1:25 600m and improved in my 3200m running a 9:42. After being able to improve my junior cross country time by almost a minute in the 5K I was hoping that I would be able to drop some serious times of my PRs. This is yet to happen and I am stuck running the same times that i have previously and not improving like I believe my training should be allowing for improvement. How come I am finding it difficult to improve? Is there a reason that I am not improving like all my competitors around me are? (Coaching at my school is pretty poor and I have had to come up with most of the training myself)
