Are you using a machine or free weights?
If you are a HS guy, and you are using a machine, your current capability indicates that death or at least injury are imminent, so be careful.
If you are using free weights, my guess is that your max has nothing to do with your strength and everything to do with your fear of hurting yourself. That means that getting to 1.5X is only about getting over your fear and should happen within 2-4 months.
PS Your current pitiful max just about makes it impossible that doing a few squats 2 or 3 times a week is going to make you gain weight.
