I'm not saying that's fast, but it would be funny if the average LR dweeb is a slower sprinter than a morbidly obese guy.

40m?
This got me thinking....what is the shortest distance that "matters"? I mean, could anyone brag about 25m?
Well, The average LR runner is a casual sub-13 5K, 6'5" heavily muscled man who could have gone pro in any sport he wanted, but chose distance running, his worst sport, in order to challenge himself. So seeing, as most of the users of this site could start as a running back in the NFL I think LRC wins.

9.5/10
If you take the average currently training and racing lets run poster more than 50% of them should be able to zip 40 from the gun under 5"66. Average of all lets run users overall- doubt it..
If you maintain that speed for 100m that's a low 14 100m time. You will slow down a bit so i would say sub 15 100m. Big dudes who squat and deadlift hundreds of pounds will be sort of fast.

I am the ultimate run of the mill Letsrunner. I had a promising high school career and was sidelined with injury until my early twenties where I was injured again. I took up jogging as a thirty something year old healthy and aerobially fit male aiming to break 5 minute mile. Achieved it in a year and run 5.5 for 60 meter.
There are probably a lot better runners than me here and a lot worse runners too.

Fixed.
That was the most repulsive running I've ever seen.

You should run faster for 100m than 40m not slower... Usain Bolt only hit 40m in 4.64. Though jamin incorrectly stated it as meters rather than yards, so somewhere in the 14's would still be a good estimate.
This is a 40yd dash, right?
So it is 36.57 meters and negative reaction time. Granted it is also on turf.
Hard to compare that to something like a FAT 100m or even 60m on the track.
Most could not beat that time.

He's, it was 40 YARDS, not meters. Once again, jamin makes a fool of himself.

Try not to insult me, sister.
its actually 40 yards, not 40m?
NFL combine 40 yard times can't really be compared to track times for these reasons:
I always laugh about how much Letsrunners overstate the impressiveness of sprint times. 5.6 is terrible. Just like 14.XX for 100m is terrible. I ran a laser-timed 4.89 as a sophomore in high school at the local college's football camp. Just last year, I easily dominated the top MS sprinter on the team that I coached. His best is 12.27 FAT. I am only a 1:13 half guy. This makes me slower than 90% of LR regulars. Please stop pretending like anyone here would not destroy this hobby jogging lineman.

This was meant as a reply to RunningExpert... and posters on previous sprint themed threads. Not you, Jamin. I never disagree with you.

I don't have to insult you. Every time you post, you insult yourself better than I ever could.
