Only a couple hours between races?
Only a couple hours between races?
Sure its not just the slow heat???
Why would they run them 2 hours apart?
Maybe it's the really slow heat.
Anybody actually know the answer?
If there are too many entrants (last year they capped it at 14 for the fast heat) they will run it as heats against time for the championship. The slow heat (heat 1) is at 2:50/3:15 and the fast heat is at 5:00/5:25.
schedule says 1st heat if necessary. (slow heat)
The schedule originally called it a prelim. They probably saw my post here and changed it.

If it's a slow heat they would run them 2 hours apart because they would want to schedule the fast heat with the main attractions and maybe the stick the slow heat before any good stuff started.
One 5000 race already takes up enough viewer time.
