Hi all,
I've been sprinting for a few years now, but until recently I had never run indoors. My 400m PB is 54.88, which I ran last summer. My fastest time indoors so far this season is 56.04, from a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering how does this indoor time stack up against the outdoor time? The indoor track is 200m, with banked curves. It;s a very nice track, only built a couple of years ago.
What would be the conversion from such an indoor time, to an outdoor time, assuming good conditions outdoors? If I plug in my indoor time into the IAAF Indoor Tables I get 611 points, a total which would score me 55.07 on the outdoor tables, therefore a 0.97 differential. I'm not sure if the outdoor tables are supposed to be compared with the indoor tables though, so not sure how accurate this 0.97 is, but it is interesting that a difference of between 0.96 and 0.99 seems to remain right the way through the tables, from 45 seconds down to 80 seconds, so maybe 1 second is a good estimate? Or is it closer to half a second?
