I have a friend who works at NB and gives me discounts on shoes there. Recently I've been in need of a shoe thats good for workouts, specifically fast stuff like 200/400/600s. Anyone know of a good NB shoe for speedwork?

Are you looking for flats, spikes, or just lightweight trainers?
Are you a neutral runner? support?
Injury prone? you need to give more info.
i think the 1400v2 is one of the best shoes ever made. i use it for track workouts and tempo runs.
For short stuff the nb5000 flat is brilliant
NB 5000 or, if you prefer a more substantial shoe, the 1600. I'd use the 1400 for longer runs and tempos.
Hands down the RC5000. Lightest flat on the market, awesome grip.
You have a friend who works for New Balance! Not to be snarky, but go ask him or her….
Nb are a sorry excuse for a running shoe. they are a sandal with a frying pan of a midsole. Hokas are 10000000 times better because they are just as light and have more cusion. King of Ds is a hobby jogger

Stop it youre ridiculous. The new Zante is excellent for the longer stuff. It comes out March 1. You could try it, excellent shoe!
If you are looking for tempo's on the road and faster paced stuff try the Fresh Foam Zante coming out soon. Nice feeling shoe. Firm and responsive.

Hokas are moon boots.
How's about this?
I like the Pegasus 32 and Ravena 5
What New Balance would work for me.
I usually wear them on recovery and long runs. I wear racing flats for hills, speed (off track) and tempo's.[quote]kod3200 wrote:
880 is going to be similar to the Pegasus. Decent cushioning, neutral shoe. 870 is closer to the Ravenna. It has denser foam simulating a post for moderate stability. Both are pretty light and responsive for the amount of foam they use.

How do they compare to the NB 980?
