I am currently a senior in high school. I had a fairly successful running career in HS. I love running. But during the past XC season I developed Achilles tendonitis. I ran a whole month during the end of the season with it which probably made it worse. I don't have swelling just consistent pain. I've been trying to treat it as well as I can but the pain is persistent. My HS doesn't have an indoor track team so I am just waiting for outdoor track. I want to start running to get ready for outdoor track. I really don't want to miss my last season of HS running. Also, if I treat it for lets say a month or two and don't run at all I won't be as fast during the season because I would've built no base.
So here's the thing, I want to start running now. I want to start running while continuing to treat the injury as best I can. I wanted to run in college but maybe I'll take some time off after high school due to this injury and start maybe my sophomore year of college. I just don't want to miss out on my last season of high school running and I want to be the absolute best I can be in my last season of HS running. What do you guys think of this? Can/should I run through it?
