I had a bit of a layoff from speedwork (about 6 weeks) just from schedule and laziness. But, I had my first "speed session" since tuesday which was 6 miles "hard" (about tempo pace for 6 miles). I never fully recovered from it and decided to do a speed session today (was stupid in heinsight) which was 4x1200 with 2 minutes rest, while still having dead legs, not "feeling fully exerted" or into it if that makes any sense, and just plain slower than usual the past couple days and on my warm-up today. My 1200's weren't nearly as quick as I wanted or expected but I could feel the lactate. Anybody else have a long layoff of speedwork and feel this way? Will I feel 'quicker' soon from these couple workouts?
