Backstreet Boys? Who is best?
Backstreet Boys? Who is best?
I gotta go with the Beatles on this one.
Menudo.
They would just keep replacing boys when they hit puberty.
If you define a Boy Band as a group of young singer/dancers artifically assembled by producers or a marketing company to appeal to teenage girls I'd say the Monkees and Take That.
If you define it as a vocal group consisting of young male singers I'd say The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Jackson 5.
For the record, the definition of a "boy band" is a group of young (youngish) white male vocalists who have no talent other than singing and do not/cannot play instruments or write their own songs.
By definition Rolling Stones, Hansons etc don't apply. Some may argue with my rule that boy bands have to be "white" but I view Jackson 5, BTM, New Edition, etc squarely in the R&B genre.
Top 3 Boy Bands
1) One Direction
2) NKOTB
3) Backstreet Boys
Feel free to swap in N-Sync or the Osmonds for #3 if you like but I prefer BSB.
The Rolling Stones
Hansons of course! look at how many successful Marathoners they have produced. Even produced a few good females like Desi

Are you under the impression that the Jackson 5 didn't play instruments?

Or that Justin T. cannot/does not write songs?
1) BSB
2) Boyz II Men
Menudo had 35 albums and sold 60 million records.
They had about 40 different members over time including Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony.
Ricky Martin became a huge star and Marc Anthony got Jennifer Lopez.
The Indigo Girls should be on the list...you know...to be politically correct and junk.

I agree with everything you said but your rankings. To me, NSYNC is #1 as they actually made good music and were liked by pretty much everyone. Backstreet Boys are a close second. NKOTB might be up there, but they were before my time, so I can't really say. I do not consider One Direction one of the greatest because they make kiddy pop BS and are not well-liked by most people outside their narrow demographic.

Take That!
The Brigham Young University Chorus
The Sex Pistols

Wait, are you really saying that One Direction make "kiddy pop BS", but NSync, NKOTB, etc were....what...serious musicians? And NSync were liked by "pretty much everyone"? Are you kidding me? I didn't know anybody that liked them. They had their little demographic, and that's it.
I'm going with Musical Youth. Not quite a true boy band, and I've only ever heard one of their songs, but their version of "Pass the Duchie" is actually pleasant to listen to.
Mormon Tabernacle Choir
What about best song?
MMBOP?
Like it like that? Not sure title
I forget any other songs
Umm, ever heard of Journey?
I hardly consider Nsync to be a boy band. It was pretty much only Justin Timberlake and JC.
One direction has been destroying records. They're the only ones to have their first 4 albums debut at #1 in the USA. It's them
Beach Boys
