I am a sophomore who runs the 800/1600 and cross country. As a freshman I went 2:02.5 and 4:37. Since then I have grown about 4 inches and greatly increased my core and leg strength this winter. My 400 was quite slow for my 800 time last year being only 55. I am a very good student and I would be able to get into almost every college except for the ivies and similar elite colleges without running. My goals for the upcoming sophomore track season are sub 1:58 and sub 4:30. I have several questions about college running/recruitment. My XC times are decent (16:30 sophomore, I could improve this a lot)
1. With my times/potential how good of college teams can I expect to be able to join?
2. Even if I was good enough to run at an Ivy League or other elite school, would they slightly be more lenient on standards? (My sisters got deferred from Yale with 35's and 36's) (I have a 3.9 unweighted and can picture getting a 32-34 from my previous standardized tests)
3. Is there a difference in the treatment and schedules of scholarship athletes vs recruited athletes vs walk-ons?
Thanks
