If he screwed up his hormones with steroid usage could that be behind some of what is going on with him now?
That is the most relevant track and field question in my mind.
I don't believe there is any evidence that steroid use changes sexual identity (or preference). In particular, it is counterintuitive to think that use of androgens would cause a male to view himself as female.
In bodybuilding circles, for example, the more androgenic steroids are known for increasing libido, but not changing the focus of one's desire (or altering ones sexual identity).
