NRR. Just curious about Roanoke Colony.
NRR. Just curious about Roanoke Colony.
The colonists realized the collectivist society of native Americans was healthier and more prosperous than the capitalist ambitions of European explorers. So they abandoned the colony and assimilated with the Indians.
Virginia Tech is located very close to Roanoke, VA. It is no longer a colony but is a city. Roanoke is very supportive of the University and their recent National Championship on the gridiron.
Liberal Genius is probably correct. There is a slight possibility that aliens took them, however. Whatever happened to them, they were wise to bury their treasure on Oak Island, Nova Scotia BEFORE disappearing.

Ummm, no. The OP is referring not to the city of Roanoke, VA, but to the original English colony in America which was located on a small island inA present day North Carolina.
Also, Virginia Tech does not have a championship, recent or no, gridiron or no, in any varsity sport. They do have a title in Bass Fishing, though this is not recognized by the NCAA.

I guess you did not follow the NCAA football season. Virginia Tech has been recognized as the champion due to the fact that they beat OSU. If you check the records you will see that I am correct.
VA TECH #1....VA TECH #!....VA TECH #1....
just another guy is getting taken to school! Nice to see the trolls get put in their place every now and then!
CROATOAN. That is all.
I just read an article a few weeks ago claiming that someone had found Virginia Dare's remains or some of them along with those of local Indians. The common idea seems to be that they went and lived with the natives, whether that was by choice or coercion is unclear. There were supposedly stories from early colonists of white people living the Indians and there are still people with Indian ancestry in the area whose DNA matches that of some of those first colonists.
Yes the school of LetRun is so educational. I thank the caring community of LetsRun for putting me in my place. It is a good day now that I truly know my place.
Thanks for your support.

If you keep going with that, you end can up with Duquesne as national champ. Someone worked it out. But St. Francis of Pa. beat Duquesne so they get my vote for national champ.

Yes, you are correct. Va Tech did a service to the vast majority of the college football universe by opening up the argument to most schools to state their claim to the national championship. The hokies allowed all the common men to call themselves champions!!

Man that's hilarious. And likely you'd find that quoted as fact in any Ivy League classroom. LOL
I always thought they got wiped out in a flood?

No, that was Johnstown, PA. And it was much later than Roanoke, something like 1890? And the whole town didn't disappear, a couple thousand people did die though and many many buildings were destroyed.

they joined peacefully as no natives were ever war hungry, then they intermarried to be one of the first diversified populations in the good ol US of A...their descendants became prominent members of our political system, one of which is famous Elizabeth Warren....i know she says she is Cherokee, but know we know the truth!!!
