Hello everyone, I feel pretty lousy, I've been a runner since age 16 to 54, the past three years the large bump on the end of my heel is making it difficult to walk or run normally. The second podiatrist explained that it needs surgery which involves cutting the Achilles and reattaching it and is a year recovery. When I asked if I would be able to run or jog again, he seemed very hesitant . He told me this condition was more common in obese middle aged women than in runners! that was news to me. I am not even fat. Does anyone know the chances of returning to at least some jogging after this procedure in middle age runners? this doc wasn't all that encouraging.
