I've been having pain in my right groin/adductor area for about 2 weeks. It's located way high up pretty much where the pelvis meets the leg and is pretty localized (no pain in quad, hip, glute). It occurred out of the blue, after a run and at first I thought I had pulled a muscle. Ran through it for a few days but it never improved and started to hinder my form (though was never in terrible pain, I could "feel" it with each stride).
I've taken the last week off, about 5 days completely and am now cross training. The weird thing is I can do almost anything without reproducing the pain except running and fast walking. I've been focusing a lot on core strength and hip mobility for the past year and can do all of those excercises with no issue. I can do all kinds of adductor and hip stretches without pain and no loss of flexibility. I can put on pants, stand on one leg, hop, etc. The physio did all sorts of tests, pressed on the pelvic bone, rotated my hip in and out and all felt ok. But everytime I try to run (or walk fast) it feels extremely tight, somewhere between pulled muscle and an ache, in that localized area, throwing off my stride and making it impossible to do anything more than shuffle. After going over my training the only things that stuck out are that I was on vacation that week and had done a lot of cycling a few days prior to noticing the pain. It was casual cycling on a kind of crappy Huffy bike and I remember that the seat hurt my butt. Also the pain is so high up that it seems consisten with where the bike seat would hit when sitting, so I wonder if there's a connection.
After reading 100 or more letsrun threads on groin pain, I am terrified I have a stress frx or a torn labrum. The physio thought it seemed muscular but is sending me for an MRI next week to be sure. Meanwhile it doesn't seem to have gotten any better in 2 weeks despite lots of foam rolling, stretching, core, resting completely a few days, massage, etc. And I can't seem to pinpoint where exactly the pain is coming from. Does this sound like a groin strain or something else?
