Hi, my name is Cameron, I'm currently a 17 year old distance runner in high school. Going into high school, I was very slim. I was about 5'4" and 103 lbs. I was able to maintain my weight for about 1 1/2 years, and towards the end of my sophomore year I had to quit the track team because of an injury. During this time, I sat at home and binge ate everyday for a few months. In 3 months, I had gained about 20 lbs. Over the summer, I was able to lose about 10 lbs when I went back to running, but once the Cross Country season came around, I couldn't keep up. My PR from my sophomore year of Cross Country was 21:02, and this year I couldn't even break 23 minutes. Seeing my times at the end of my races have been really frustrating because I'm putting in more effort than I did last year, and yet, my times are so much slower. I was debating whether I should lose the weight or not, because a lot of people tell me that I look a lot healthier, but at the same time, I feel really frustrated about my times, and it makes me really sad to see all of my friends improving and my times just getting worse. I want to lose the weight because I think it will make me feel better about myself, but will it help me run faster? Because I know that with weight loss there is also muscle loss. I really don't know what to do. Please help?!??
