What are some of your funny conversations with non-runners.
Mine: Conversation with football/sprint coach.
Coach:Wait do you run on Sundays?
Me: Yes
Coach: Wait on Saturdays too?
Me: Yes
Coach: Oh

My mom to her friend: this is my son, the one who does the jogathons
Me: they're trail marathons
True story.
it can be pretty amusing when people have the realization that yes, everyday you've seen me for the past few years has been after I ran 6-13 miles only a couple hours earlier.
When non runners think anything under 4 hours is fast for a marathon.
(freshman year of college)
Roomate: So what's after conference, the Olympics?
Me: ...
Told a non-runner I was aiming for 4:18 and he asked if I would be able to make the Olympics with that time
*after every long run ever*
Someone who doesn't run: How far did you run?
Me: (any number 10-16) miles
Nonrunner: you're freaking crazy I'd be done after 1 mile.
(or something to that effect)
Me: goodnight, I'm going to bed
Friend (whom I haven't seen in awhile): man, you're getting old, going to bed all early these days
Me: I've always gone to bed early
Friend: what, you have, why?
Me: I run twice a day and I go to the gym
Friend: why twice a day?
Me: so I can fall asleep easier, and wake up for an early run
Friend: oh...
Had an entire 10 minute convo on how har cross training was with someone. Didnt realize i was talking about cross country and he was talking about crossfit till the very end...

Every single one of you are coming across like a bunch of smug douches.
I didn't realize you werent talking about the kind of cross training where you lift weights or swim or bike or whatever to supplement running til I re-read your post twice.
Any time they ask me whether I commute driving or using the underground.

Coworkers routinely tell me I need to "step up from 5k's because they are too easy".
I ask them if they would say the same thing to Usain Bolt regarding the 100m.

My response -- you've never run a hard 5k.
I had an amusing one the other day while I was running with my dog. We came upon a lady and her two dogs, so of course my dog was interested in sniffing the [dogs'] butts like dogs do. We stop briefly for them to meet.
Lady: You're dog is very fit!
Me: Yeah, she loves running.
Lady: How far are you taking her?
Me: 8 miles today.
[Pause. She gives me a confused/concerned look.]
Me: (Sensing her concern for my dog's well-being) She really enjoys it. She never seems tired at the end of our runs. I think she's in better shape than me!
Lady: Well, my dogs slept on the couch all morning and they're still in better shape than me.
