Saw that proposed Olympic stadium in midtown.
Will they run same course from hopkington?

No.
Likely a loop course like the Trials there.
I think it would be cool if they did a big loop. Like if they start at the finish line, could they run all the way down beacon to wellsley and then take the right and come back on the marathon course by the firehouse and up comm ave? Just a thought. something i think owuld be cool and make it distinctly boston.
If they do there won't be a World or Olympic record.
The Boston Marathon course would be neat to use since this marathon was modeled after the 1896 Olympic marathon which was also a point-to-point course.
a shorter course involving multiple loops would be more spectator friendly and practical from a logistical standpoint though.
If the marathon were modeled after the 1896 event the distance would be an intelligent 40km. The dumb 42.2km run to end in front of the Queen of England's box would die forevermore.
from Wikipedia:
On April 19, 1897, ten years after the establishment of the B.A.A., the association held the 24.5 miles (39.4 km) marathon to conclude its athletic competition, the B.A.A. Games.[2] The event was scheduled for the recently established holiday of Patriots' Day, with the race linking the Athenian and American struggles for liberty.[6] The race, which became known as the Boston Marathon, has been held every year since then, making it the world's oldest annual marathon. In 1924, the starting line was moved from Metcalf's Mill in Ashland to Hopkinton Green and the course was lengthened to 26 miles 385 yards (42.195 km) to conform to the standard set by the 1908 Summer Olympics and codified by the IAAF in 1921.[7]
That would be a pretty sweet course. Would be some tough hills from miles 16 to 20 right? That'd make it exciting.
Ah, option #3, a BIG loop course.

Yes it would be an Olympic record, it's in the Olympics. The Athens course was also point-to-point.
If Boston's Olympic marathon was modeled after the 1896 Athens Olympic marahton, it would run uphill from sea level to Hopkinton.
