Ok so my xc coach is my track coach. I'm a senior now. He's been coaching me for a while and there's been no improvement what so ever! I do everything he tells us to do. I know more than my coach! It's currently pre season and we aren't even doing mileage. He has us doing speed work in off season. We only have practice for an hour then we are done. He doesn't put any effort into coaching and I think he only does it because he gets a paycheck. He doesn't even know the common running terms like "tempo run, lactic acid, peaking, etc..." I was talking to him about how lactic acid builds up doing tough long running and he was completely clueless. I think i'm going to go hand him the jack daniels book so he can learn about the sport. He lied about running a 15 min 5k in high school so I think he eased his way into the coaching staff. He's in his 30's and he likes to look cool to impress all the young female teachers. He doesn't even cheer on his runners when they are running, he literally was at the concession stand waiting for a hot dog. I never really was fortunate enough to have a good coach that's why i study and train on my own. Our team gets demolished every track and xc meet and i'm tired of it. I've been the #1 guy all 4 years. He always gets mad when I try to suggest workouts... like he has his 2 milers running 3-4 miles per week. We never do aerobic work! Is there anyway I can talk to my coach about bettering his coaching ways?
