The other runs, long runs, easy runs, recovery runs are jogging. You aren't getting away from anybody at those paces.

I do my tempo runs anywhere from 5:05 - 5:25 pace.
I do most of my other runs at around 6:30 pace. That isn't running?
Not if you really run 14:0x, for you it's just jogging. I doubt that time though.
Tempos: 5:00-5:05
Easy days: 6:00-6:15
Granted I'm an "elite" collegiate runner, but I hardly ever go slower than 6:15. In my definition definitely not jogging.
Good, that is settled, I never feel the need to read your posts again.

Sure you are, if you live in America.
I'm an old guy doing most of my miles at 8-ish. I still pass 10 for every one that passes me. And these are slim, fit rec runners for the most part.
Thanks. I thought my 10:30 tempo pace was jogging.
In before more people who do their easy runs too fast come in and try to brag.
I used to clip 5:30 miles my easy day...
that's not jogging...
i prefer to use the dictionary to define words, not some macho POV that defines running as only hard running. that would be just plain stupid.

?
That's way too fast for "tempo" work. There's a 13:1x US guy that ONLY runs 4:55 per mile on his tempo days.
a good runner once said to me something like
'tempo is the answer to most questions'
which is probably right

What will happen when you decide to take on the marathon ?
Tempo isn't running.
Sprinting is running.
As you said "You aren't getting away from anybody at those paces".
And you aren't going to get away from an attacker at a tempo pace.
You gotta sprint!

There's a 12:53 US guy that "only" runs 4:59 pace tempos. Which don't need to be fast if you're a mile/5k guy.

Obviously it just matters how fast you run those... I do 13 mile LR and the last 5 miles are negative split starting with 7 flat, I also do fartleks, intervals, and post milage strides.
Runs where I "get away from people":
Tempo
Long run
Fartlek
Interval work
Strides
"Jogging" Runs:
Easy milage
Recovery
Warm up/ Cool down
