They are more comfortable and appropriate.

Tights allow you to perform better.
Do I tell you how to dress for work in the morning?
They must be cold in the winter as well
I prefer tracksters which are closer than pants but not too tight
After college, I have never worn a pair of tights.
In college, I would wear them for track workouts on cold days.
Or maybe for a quick tempo run.
I'm over 50 and still wear mine through the local campus. Feels good to get so many hot, bangin' young chics turning their heads and checking me out.
Because no one should have to care what strangers think is appropriate.
you can't workout properly in warm up pants. They're too heavy and can trip you up. I do sometimes wear track pants but only for easy days. Always tights for fast workouts.
Comfort, fit, performance, warmth. Why do you use a watch when we have sun dials?
I haven't worn anything but tights in 7 years. Even before then I was wearing tights but I had shorts over them because I was an idiot.

It gets cold here and to avoid bulk, pants over tighta is best.
Two pairs if pants would be hard to run with.

You need to invest in some quality tights and ditch the pants brother
They're nowhere near as comfortable. Running in tights is pretty much like running in shorts and for running, whatever makes a run better is what's appropriate.
The real question should not be "why don't you just wear warm up pants?" ... it should be "why don't you just wear shorts?"
Cold is a state of mind
My tights are very comfy. Maybe you need to buy better tights.

I agree. Tights are more comfortable and appropriate than warm-up pants. I love to wear my tights. Sometimes I even wear tights under my pants as a base layer when it's cold. Tights wick sweat better than pants, so if you sweat while running (I do) then tights will dissipate the sweat better so you don't end up getting cold and wet. These are only a few reasons why tights are appropriate running wear for men, and I suggest every man wear a pair of tights when running in the cold.

Same reason women wear tights. Surprise, it's not for men to stare at our butts.

Yes it is
I prefer form fitting pants. They are not baggy at all and for me they are more comfortable than tights.
What I never understood was why men will wear half-tights in warm weather. Why not just short shorts?

Women actually talk to me.
C'mon...
I get the feeling that women rarely talk to anyone on this post...

From Drake by chance?
Anyways, I wear half tights instead of short shorts 90% of the time. I was an 800 guy so I obviously lifted and sprinted a lot, meaning my legs are a bit more muscular than a 5k or 10k guy. Half tights not only are much more comfortable for me, but they look better than short shorts.
