In the past three years, the men's top 10 at Dubai has consisted of 25 Ethiopians, 4 Kenyans, 1 Moroccan and 1 Bahraini (born in Ethiopia). In 2014, the top 15 consisted of 13 Ethiopians, 1 Ethiopian-born Bahraini, 1 Moroccan and 0 Kenyans.
On the world list last year, there were 10 Kenyans in the top 20 and 10 Ethiopians in the top 20. Generally, they're pretty even, though the very best men are all Kenyan.
So can someone explain why so few Kenyans run Dubai -- a marathon with a $200,000 prize for first place?
