This isn't a new "diet" in running, it's been being used since the 90s in triathletes and runners. You have something like 20,000 calories of fat to burn at your disposal, compared to 2,000 of glucose/glycogen. So the theory is if you train to burn fat when running, you're all set.
Score 1 for the crossfit guy.
Surely not!
Bad article: first it suggests that there is no evidence that sat fats are bad for you, then flips back and recommends limiting saturated fats even further based on "moderation".
If you lived by moderation then why not consume hard liquor, drugs and plain sugar in "moderation"?

Sounds like a plan. There's nothing wrong with hard liquor, drugs, and sugar in moderation.

Problem is that all these little things in moderation make up for the perfect storm:
Breakfast: Bagel and OJ in moderation
Snack: cookies in moderation
Lunch: sandwich (grain based) in moderation
Snack: jung fruit (bananas etc) in moderation
Dinner: pasta in moderation
Desert: ice cream in moderation
You get the idea. Typical runners diet, 80% carbs.
Fast track to diabetes and CVD.

What is "jung fruit" Xdress guy?
Diet does not cause Diabetes. "Too much sugar" does not cause Diabetes.Obesity is linked to Diabetes, but the causal aspect has not been proven. You know this, you're just trolling, but others may be too stupid to realize.

Runners World has always recommended high fad diets.

Well, it ain't bananas because they're a herb, just like that other herb Xdress guy smokes before he comes on here to post.
As I've gotten a little older I've known some people (not runners) who have experienced various health problems related in part to diet. Almost without exception, they ate whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. They were much more likely to eat a Big Mac, mounds of Chinese take-out, or greasy BBQ wings, than they were an onion bagel with peanut butter and a banana.
