I'm going on a retreat this Holiday weekend (MLK day in Monday) to a winter cabin. Outdoor hiking, xc skiing, etc. I went to get some gear last night at the SPort's store and picked up a pair of the Thorlo Ski socks for $22.99.
Are they worth it? Today at Walmart, there were two pair of Geniuine Dickies Premium Steel Toe - Thermal Wool Crew socks for about $9.
Can the Thorlo's really be that much better?
The Dickies are 61% Polyster, 15% wool, 13% nylon, 9% acrylic, 2% rubber.
The Thorlos are 59% Thorlon acrylic, 39% Thorwick polyester, 2% spandex.
I want to be comfortable and warm while outside for 3-4 hours. What do you think?

PS. My wife also picked up some Thorlo hiking socks at the sports store but I think they are for the summer. Will this be a problem in the winter? Her socks say "Light Hiking" on them and are 62% coolmax, 19% thorlon accrylic, 14% stretch nylon, 5% spandex.
