Wintertime, running, sweating = need a moisture-wicking base layer to stay dry. So I have a base layer, can't afford smartwool yet which I've read is the best base layer, but my base layer is a synthetic material, brand is Brooks. Can't go wrong with Brooks, right?
Well what does moisture-wicking mean exactly? When I was done running, my base layer was completely soaked with sweat, and the sweat went through a bit to the outer two layers as well. Three layers were necessary because it was six degrees fahrenheit.
Does wicking mean it draws moisture from the skin? If so, where does the moisture go after that?is it supposed to soak the base layer and just sit there? I stripped it off then out of necessity tried to put it back on, and BRRRRR it was cold, so I left it off and just put my coat on.
Is this how wicking is supposed to work? I thought wicking meant I would stay 98.6 degrees fahrenheit, dry & comfortable. This was not the case.
