I ran 3:55 in the 1500 at 165# at 5'11 1/2" in college and could bench press as much as many NFL cornerbacks (about 17 reps at 225). I would imagine that some of the leaner corners and receivers in the NFL could run 4:30 in the mile without much work. Many of the 400 runners on the track team in college (guys that were 47-48 400 runners) would occasionally run an 800 in training. Most could break 2, some could break 1:55 and many of those guys were in the 160-180 pound range. Look at David Krummenacker. The guy was 6'2", 170# and ran 3:31 in the 1500. Paul McMullen was 6'2", 180# and was a 3:33 1500 runner (additionally, he was a high school football player and was regularly over 200# coming out of football season). As long as the muscle is lean, they could handle it.
