Anybody going to see Unbroken on Christmas?
Anybody going to see Unbroken on Christmas?
I am. I read the book. It is amazing the amount of physical/mental torture a human being can endure and still survive. The Japanese were beyond brutal. Parts of the book were difficult to read knowing it was a true story.
Why do you want to know this? Does seeing Unbroken on Christmas imply something about the viewer?

It does if you eat Chinese food beforehand

I missed something...or your an idiot.
He was held in a Japanese POW camp - Not Chinese
Yes - the two kids are college age-runners, and were looking forward to it.
Does it imply something? Well, since it opens here on Christmas day... yes, it implies that would be the first chance to see the movie.
Kind of appropriate that it opens on Christmas, though, given his life story.

I loved the book. But the film adaptation by Angelina Jolie will be a cheesy cartoon. So no, I will not be going to see Unbroken on Christmas, or any other day of the year.

The book adaptation by Hillebrand was a cheesy cartoon.
Hey, Gary, thanks for defending my anti-Semitic comments in you recent Playboy interview. We see eye-to-eye on the matter. :-)
I walked across the street and watched it Christmas Eve. It was very good. I wouldn't say cheesy at all. Having read the book you can't help but feel that there was a lot left out. But I guess you can only fit so much into a 2.5 hour movie. The book had an incredible amount of detail. The movie feels like it flies by and you don't really realize how long Zamp was actually gone. Not a bad movie at all though.
I would also like to note how weird the actor's running form was. He ran with this stiff head bob thing going on like a running back trying to bust a 40 yard rush. Didn't look smooth at all. Definitely has never run a mile.

Jews in the US eat Chinese food and go to the movies on Christmas.
Unbroken. Kind of has an ironic tone to it, right?
I mean the goal of me and most friends when we were kids was to not break our toys on the same day we got it.
Huh.

I know that must be a tough one for you to figure out with a single missing letter.

More like Easter don't you think?
No
Went to go see Unbroken today. If like me you read the book I think you will think the movie is ok - not great but ok. If you didn't read the book I think you will enjoy it more.
If you are going because of the running parts of it you will be disappointed.
Saw it today. Haven't read the book. Quite possibly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Basically a melodramatic snuff film.
