400m or soccer

I am new to this forum, I was at a local track last week and I ran 11 seconds for 100meter, I rested for a few minutes and then I ran 51 seconds for 1 lap (400m)

Im not happy with this 400m time, I hope to join my local running club soon because If I trained I would be able to maintain the speed and run around 44 seconds for 400 meters

Should I start running more or keep playing soccer? I want to do both but with only four free days in the week I might have to stop playing soccer as much

Im a 17 year old Senior and I've never done running before except in soccer and softball when I was younger, the times I ran at the track are accurate as my friend timed them with a special app on his iphone for timing moving things

So should I run or play soccer?

Keep playing soccer while you're in school. You should be able to do sprint training concurrently. You can always focus on running in college, especially if you're not planning to play soccer there.

For me, soccer is fun. Running is not. I enjoy racing, but actually don't really like running. I suspect it is the same for many on here.

BTW, your estimated 400m time with training is ridiculous. You'll be lucky to get 48s.

Is soccer the same season as track in your state? Or are you talking between track and club? If this is real, those are pretty good untrained times and with a season of training you might be able to get a partial scholarship to run (depending how well you improve). How good are you at soccer?

51s for 200 meter isn't really great even for a soccer player. But you can be a goalie.

Only you know the answer. I would take soccer though. You will be able to race many 400s per game.

You have a better chance of playing in the world cup than running a 44 second 400m.

Did you really need a special iApp for timing moving things as a stopwatch?
