He was the relay coach at the London Olympics.
The same Olympics where the American female 4x100 squad broke the East German's world record.
Good riddance! Take your pal Hightower with you.
All were juiced to the gills I'm sure!
I'm looking at you Jeter
this is the best news for USA Track
And to think USATF used to roll this guy out as one of the many spokespeople going to school and all talking against drugs.
8 years, that's it? That's a slap on the wrist. No wonder the sport has such a bad rap.
Under the changes being implemented in 2015 by WADA, athletes are prohibited from associating with banned coaches. Not sure on the implications for an athlete of having an association, but a new code change that will hinder Drummond's future participation in the sport.

Can anyone tell me what his a) current involvement with USATF is. It looks like he's the chair of the Athlete Advisory Committee.
http://www.usatf.org/about/directory/info.asp?parent=Administrative+Division&group=Athletes+Advisory+CommitteeIs that a paid position? Anything else?
2) Past roles with USATF?
Not a good day for HSI.
Let's connect the dots. Maurice Greene wrote a $10,000 check to Angel Heredia.
Now Jon Drummond gets banned for 8 years.
What does this mean for Ato Boldon and John Smith?
Can part of a training group be clean and party dirty?
So Tyson Gay gets a slap on the wrist (well, maybe a soft punch to the stomach)
because he gave up Drummond... who gets 8 years.
Seems to me this isn't exactly justice. Gay was the one who competed with the drugs. He should be out for the 8 years.
put another way - is letting Gay compete too big a prize just to get Drummond? I think they gifted ol'Tyson here.
unless drummond is only the first.

I sure hope not - though speaking of shady connections on that list why is Teddy Mitchell still on there as the XC rep? At least most of the people have competed somewhat recently - pretty scary.
Here is the arbiter's decision. We'll read it and try to get something up about it soon.

THanks to @Bonnie_D_Ford for the link.

youse have to read this thing - gay must have an IQ of 70 or he was a pure cheater.
Doctor has bottles labeled testosterone and HGH
Doctor says 'nah, those labels are false'
Gay says he won't take the drugs.
So Drummond takes the labels off, writes "T" and "H" on teh bottles
Drummond gives the bottles again to Gay, says they are not actually testosterone and HGH. Gay uses them, tests poz.
really, I didn't know anyone could be this stupid. Seriously.
Drummond's defense is that he thought the labels he removed were lies and the jars didn't actually have prohib substances.
because that is what the doc said!

It's not a paid position.
But someone tell me that that link is outdated and that Jon is still not the current head of the AAC. He's been under indictment from USADA for months and we just had a USATF board meeting. Was he really still serving in that role?
Hopefully, some of the athletes objected and that link is outdated.
JD resigned as AAC leader in Anaheim. There was a rather dramatic resignation speech. The athletes gave him a standing ovation as he left the room...

Drummond stepped down in or just before the annual meeting in Anaheim. Fleshman and PoleVaultPower both tweeted about it.

I see that Dwight Phillips took over Drummond's position.
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/12/dwight-phillips-voted-chair-usatf-athletes-advisory-committee/Anyone have any insight onto Drummond's speech?
Drummond should have immediately been suspended from his position the time he was charged by USADA. Like how the NFL will suspend you with pay immediately if you are charged with domestic abuse.
If his name was cleared he could have his job back.
