All the public schools in my area have terrible running programs. We always lose to the outter city schools or private schools. All my years of high school running, my team has never ran over 15 miles per week. I'm a senior and i'm doing the best I can to gain knowledge. I gained a lot of running knowledge thanks to youtube, letsrun, jack daniels, nike distance camp. I'm only doing this to go sub 4:30 and sub 2! I seriously know more than my coaches. He doesn't even know what a tempo run/lactac threshold run is. He claims that he ran a 15:50 in high school but he doesn't coach like he did. How do you run on a team when the coaches workouts he gives you is terrible? I can't suggest workouts because he will think i'm being a smart ass. My team doesn't know any better and that's why they can't go sub 19. I always been top runner every year.
