I recently came across this from experience and it makes sense from a physiological standpoint but I'm seeking the thoughts of the letsrun world on this. Wouldn't the extra cushioning(while retaining the lightweight feel of racing flats) add a spring like effect to your shoes?
Like a trampoline, there would be compression on foot strike and release of elastic tension on pushoff adding an extra dimension to power output and thus a performance and physiological benefit. It creates a energy return in the same way as an extended Achilles tendon does through compression and release and it offers greater reduction on impact stress at the same time
