Asking how to not care about wearing short shorts is a little bit like asking how to grow my hair. I don't think about it.
Every once in a while someone will post something about feeling some sort of insecurity in short shorts and then I realize that's a thing.
I think you just get used to it. I was on swim team when I was very young (10-12) and we wore speedos. Every day in the summers I would be putting on a speedo and spending a couple hours around kids my age. Because I swam so much I had more speedos than normal swimwear. IT wasn't till I wore my speedo to a few friends houses that I started understanding that speedos weren't normal for american culture(My parents didn't let me watch TV so I had no way of knowing). Random story but this is just why I've never had any qualms about it. You just get used to it. Over the years I've gotten a few hoots, hollers, cat calls over short shorts but I think people just like yelling out the window of their cars for any reason at all.
Just spend a full day wearing them one time and that insecurity will be lost for good
I don't understand this insecurity. I was always extremely proud to show off my runner legs to the world, in the right context.
Turn 30, start running out of f*cks to give.
There are seven (7) easy steps to having a "not caring" attitude while wearing running shorts:
1) Wear running shorts.
2) Look for f $&%s to give and not find any.
3) Go outside for your run.
4) Begin run.
5) Don't give a f $&%.
6) Finish run.
7) Still don't give a f $&%.
lol.
How would the plan vary if I was on a treadmill at the gym?
Be a runner from the 70's or 80's. There were no longer shorts so who cares.
Do your run on the treadmill, then when you finish, walk out of the gym with your middle finger held high.
Tip: Wear flesh colored tights under your shorts.
Just ask yourself why you possibly care what some random thinks of your choice of clothing. I mean seriously. Why *would* you care? You wouldn't. So, don't. Caring what people you know, or people who may affect your life, think if you is prudent. Caring what random people on a highway think is a waste of glucose.
