Eating by hunger and feel

No, waiting until you are lightheaded is not a good indication.Why would you be obese? You are obese when you take in more calories than your body can use.To be honest, and I see a lot of this on this board, but I suspect you have an eating disorder, since your question is somewhat irrational. Most people can go through life just eating when they're hungry and at most, watching the fat content, etc. You seem to be unsure how to even determine if you are hungry for fear of being fat.You may want to seek professional help. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

If you do not know when you are hungry then you have VERY serious problems. Please seek professional help promptly.

The solution is to cut down your carbs, especially grains. I used to go through constant blood sugar swings and cravings, despite a "healthy" whole-grain-based diet. Now I avoid any grains and flour (fruit,veggies, some veggies like yams are great), and stay at my best weight and don't bonk like I used to. Yesterday I ran a 20-miler, longest run in 15 years, and felt amazing right to the end. By this morning I had neither gained nor lost a single pound. And I am never hungry, just recognize that I need fat and protein-rich meals as well as huge salads to keep things right.

Actually, most Americans do not do anything at all like you describe. In the book "Eat to Live", Dr. Joel Fuhrman talks about how most Americans mistake cravings for hunger and don't know what true hunger actually feels like. (and he didn't mean that as they don't know what it means to go hungry, or starve.)

Most people mistake appetite for hunger.

i have the opposite issue. my stomach doesn't seem to signal to me. i'm barely ever hungry, e.g. it's 12:30pm here and i had a small snack at 9am and i'm not hungry and i doubt i'll be hungry til the evening, if that.

if i just eat when i'm hungry i lose a lot of weight and i'm underweight anyway.

SO, i'd say eating by hunger doesn't work. just try to eat normal meals and keep it healthy?

Also most mistake hunger for thirst. Drink a lot of water.
