To even understand the work thats been done so far he'd have to go through at least a masters program. If this is his passion, it would be done sometime in a phd program, probably finished as a dissertation. We're looking at 9 years from when he starts college.

Even though this is a joke thread, I feel the need to say something here. This is NOT a problem that would be solved by a PhD candidate. This is the kind of stuff that people such as Einstein, Hawking, and Edward Witten devoted their entire lives to, and we still have yet to get to an answer. If these people can't figure it out, there is no way that a PhD candidate solves it.
Disagree completely. When a theorist does not arrive at a solution after many years of study, it does not mean they simply need more time. It means they are probably on the wrong track. The solution may very well come from a young genius with a fresh perspective, like.... Grant Fisher!
