I know he sponsored triathletes.
Mostly triathletes from what I remember, but some of them came from very good running backgrounds. Joy Hansen was one, she was all-American in XC while at Arizona. 16:33 college 5000m pr.
The triathlon team was deep and fast, was a force nationally for quite a few years.
Did they run under "Foxcatcher?" I don't remember ever seeing it.
Around 1988 a group of Arkansas runners competed at TAC Cross Country nationals for Foxcatcher. David Swain was one. And one of the Reina's.
I don't know of any runners that actually trained at his estate. But he must have kicked in some travel expenses for those guys that competed for Foxcatcher at that national cross meet.
The movie is dreadful, by the way. Don't believe the critical raves. It was one of the most boring experiences of my life.

Thanks, I'm having a hard time with even the idea of the movie.
The father of the victim, Phil Schultz is a dear friend of a friend of mine and I've had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. He's a brilliant and sweet guy. It's a sad story, sadder more for those of us that follow and appreciate Olympic sports.
