Hi I am currently a junior in high school who just finished xc season. I joined track and xc sophomore year and I had OK times. my 5k pr was around 19:30 and 1600m was 5:19. However, this xc season my time fortunately dropped to17:38 and i expect improvement in track. I want to improve all my times as a whole, but I'm really aiming towards reaching around 16:40 in the 5k. I didn't train that hard this summer, so I'm assuming my time got better because i was more experienced with running, and puberty. I don't want to rely solely on my physical development to just "naturally improve my time, though. Could anyone here recommend a training regimen that would fulfill my goal during these winter spring and summer seasons so I'm conditioned for next fall? If any one was in a similr situation as me, please answer how you were able to drop your time.
