I've decided that I'm tired of being mediocre. And I need to keep myself accountable, so I'm posting here so my quest won't be a solitary endeavour. I'm not asking for cheesy support and I'm not here to bore you with "what mpw do I need to run?" and "how to improve my sprint speed?"...
I want to run under 3:50 for 1500, under 8:05 for 3000 and under 14:00 for 5000 in my third year at university (summer 2017). While that wouldn't make me a superstar in American Universities, where I go to uni it would put me in the top 3 or 4 in the country.
At the moment I am just coming off a long period of little training, and need some motivation to get myself into shape and get some proper training in. At my best (so far) I have run 4:08 for 1500 (with a 60-second final 400, probably indicating I might have been in shape for a 4:03 - 06 clocking on even pace). My coach told me he thought I could run 8:50 for 3000 and under 16:00 for 5K in June. I trained hard for those, but I feel I have plenty of room to grow: I could do more mileage, more intensity, more "extras" (weights, plyo's, etc.)...
At the moment I'm in OK shape. In the last few weeks I've run a 4:45 mile on the roads in a relay, and a 35:33 big positive split 10K.
Anything you may want to tell me is welcome...
